During our three-week stay in Mexico, we visited Isla Mujeres for three nights/2.5 days and enjoyed this island. It's less popular than Cancun which means it's quieter and makes for a great spot to relax. But don't worry, there are many things to do on this island like scuba diving, snorkeling, and exploring the island with a golf cart.
In this post, we cover how to get there, how long to stay, where to stay, things to do, where to eat, and our 2.5-day itinerary.
To get to Isla Mujeres, you'll take a ferry from Cancun.
There are those who go on a day tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, but I think that this island has so much to offer that you can't possibly cover it all on a day tour. I would recommend a minimum of 2 nights here.
Best to stay in the island's northern part, close to Playa Norte.
We stayed at 𝐼𝑥𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑙 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝐻𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑙 ☆☆☆☆☆
It cost us 109 USD per night. We got upgraded to a suite because we were on our honeymoon, which was nice and thoughtful. The hotel is pretty great, with big rooms and comfortable beds. It’s in the BEST location! It is right on the top of the main street with all the restaurants and shops. The hotel's beach is Playa Norte which is the most famous beach in Isla Mujeres; it’s so beautiful and has got amazing sunsets.

•Punta Sur
•Kin Ha (Antes Parque de Los Suenos) - an ocean adventure place with lush gardens, kayaking, paddle boards, water slides, three freshwater pools, climbing walls, rope swings, and incredible snorkeling
•Visit Capilla de Guadalupe Cathedral
•Mamma Rosa – their lasagne is DELICIOUS!!! The meals are so large we didn’t even finish them so we took them back to the hotel since we had a fridge and a microwave.
•Rooster – is a great place to eat breakfast. They have a large variety of great breakfasts. Their menu is very similar to the Benedict chain in Israel. We ate breakfast there twice.
•Rolandis Restaurant Bary Pizzeria – Good food and nice interior.
•Lola valentine – They are known for having such great desserts, don't miss it!
•Panna e Cioccolato - A great ice cream store right on the main road in Isla Mujeres.
We arrived in the late afternoon and just enjoyed the hotel amenities and relaxed on Playa Norte, the most beautiful beach in Isla Mujeres.
️We took a snorkeling day tour to Musa underwater museum and lighthouse (El Farito). It was a great trip and highly recommend for those who enjoy snorkeling. The trip includes lunch.
Punta Sur:
One of the popular things to do on this island is renting a golf cart to get around the island. It costs about 42$ to rent the golf cart for 12 hours.
It is a 20-minute drive from our hotel (located on playa note) to Punta Sur.
After 5 minutes of driving, you'll see the very cool Isla Mujeres sign called 'Monumento Tiburon ballena'. You can stop and take a photo.
When you arrive in Punta Sur, it's free admission to enjoy the beautiful view.
If you want to see more and enjoy the Mayan ruins they have down there, I suggest you pay the 1.5$ admission fee.
Punta Sur is one of the most beautiful spots on this island because this is where you can see the Atlantic ocean meet the Caribbean.
Albtros Beach Club:
Secret beach. Before our flight to Mexico, I saw this really cool beach on Instagram and wrote it down.
After spending hours in the heat in Punta Sur, all we wanted to do was dip in the water, so we decided to look for this beach! This place was a little challenging to find. Their address on Facebook isn't correct, you can't find it on google maps or Waze. In the end, we did find it! Want to know how to find it?
You put in Waze Playa Lancheros, and you'll see a tiny sign that says 'Albatros sail away to Isla Mujeres.'
