Israel has many beautiful beaches along its Mediterranean coastline, most tourists stick to the beaches in Tel Aviv but there are so many great ones that aren't as popular. Here are our favorites that you shouldn't miss.

1. CORAL REEF:

 

Nature reserve

Eilat is a city located in southern Israel by the red sea and borders Egypt. The coral reef is a national reserve and it is my favorite beach because it is the best place in Israel to go snorkeling or scuba diving. Throughout the years I've seen amazing creatures and it never stops to amaze me.

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: South, Eilat
  • Our rating: #1 best beach! Don't miss it!
  • Entrance fee: Adults 10$, kids 6.5$
  • Parking fee: about 1.5$ per hour.
  • If you have National card membership: Free entrance for more info click here
  • The water is pretty cold all year long.
  • You can rent snorkeling equipment, but best bring your own to save money.
  • Sevices: There are bathrooms, showers, minimarket, and even lockers. From my experience this is a family-friendly place and we have never felt the need to use a locker but if need be a locker is about 3$)

 

2. THE DEAD SEA:

This is one of the best places in Israel. Honestly, there is nothing like the feeling you get after spending time inside these salty waters!

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: South
  • Our Rating: #2 best beach. Must-see beach!
  • Entrance fee: It depends on which beach you go to, there are many options. Entrance Fee can veray between $15 to $10, but there are also some free beaches.
  • Ein Bokek Beach - this beach is free of charge with toilets, all you need to do is pay for parking which is about 1.5$ per hour.
  • Don't forget to buy the dead sea mud before you get to the dead sea. Dead sea mud in the dead sea is double the price and sometimes even x3 the price. You can easily find dead sea products all over Israel.
  • Staying at a hotel in the dead sea can get pretty expensive, you can save money by buying a day pass to the hotel that includes their spa, pools, lunch, and the hotel's private beach for about 60$. You can also save money by sleeping in an Airbnb outside of the dead sea you can just make it a day trip there from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem or wherever your hotel/Airbnb is.

 

3. PALMACHIM BEACH:

 

Nature reserve

This is one of my favorite beaches! This beach offers fresh sand, seashells all around, and crystal clear water.

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: Center.
    ​​​​​​It takes ​around 25-50 minute drive from Tel Aviv and around 45-75 minutes from Jerusalem depending on the traffic.
  • Our Rating: #3 best beach.
  • Entrance and parking fee: depends on the season. in the summer it's around 8$ per car and in the winter it's 3$ per car (not per person).
  • Sea turtle season - May-June If you're lucky and you come during the season you might see sea turtles.
  • It is more than just a beach, there is also a path to walk around and enjoy the area.
  • This place is family-friendly.
  • Services: There are bathrooms and a lifeguard.
  • Best time to visit: Avoid coming on the weekend since this beach is very popular among the Israelis.

 

4. MA'AGAN MICHAEL BEACH:

This beach has always been a unique one. It is located in a Kibbutz, and is worth the drive. This beach is so underrated and the relaxing you feel like you are in a secluded beach. From the minute you leave your car and walk towards the beach you are amazed by the nature all around and beautiful pools with birds.

  • Location: North.
    It takes about an hour and a half drive from TLV.
  • Our Rating: #4 best beach.
  • How to get there: When you enter the Kibbutz called Maagan Michael you need to turn right, you will continue straight until you reach a gate (you'll pass a farm) once you reach the gate park your car and walk straight. On your way to the beach, you'll see the pools.
  • Entrance and parking fee: Free.
  • Services: No bathroom or lifeguard
  • It is a great place to surf
  • It is a quiet beach, family-friendly, and the water is very clear and clean.

 

5. HABONIM-DOR BEACH:

 

Nature reserve

This beach is a nature reserve therefore it is very unique and picturesque here! There are sea shells everywhere, sand dunes beautiful caves, and even a shipwreck. You can spend the whole day here!

  • Location: North. It takes around an hour and a half drive from TLV.
  • Our Rating: #5 best beach.
  • Entrance and parking fee: For an adult 6.6$. For kids under 18 the cost is 2.7$
  • Services: There is a lifeguard and bathrooms.
  • Best time to visit: This beach is pretty big and spacious, even during the weekends.

6. HERZLIYA BEACH:

Herzliya has great beaches and is a little less populated than TLV beaches.

My favorite beaches there are Apollonia beach and Acadia.

Acadia Beach is right next to the marina and I love the vibes of this beach but if you are looking for a quieter beach right under Apollonia national park there is a beach that is so mesmerizing.

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: Center
  • Our Rating: #6 best beach.
  • Entrance fee: Free
  • Parking fee: 
    *Acadia - About 9$ for a whole day in the beach parking lot but you can sometimes find parking in the streets nearby for free if you come during the weekdays. if you come during the week you can usually find parking in the streets nearby for around 1.5$ an hour. *Apollonia - free parking.
  • Services: There are bathrooms and lifeguard (during the season).
  • Location: just a 15-45 minute drive from TLV (depends from where in Tel Aviv)
  • A great place to surf.
  • A few bars and restuarants on the beach and a mall near by.
  • You can rent beach chairs with an umbrella for about 4.5$.

 

7. Caesarea Beach:

If you enjoy historic ruins and the ocean, this is a beach you don't want to miss.

This beach is called Aquaduct beach and it is located by the historic site of Caesarea it is the perfect beach for a picnic.

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: North
  • Our Rating: #7 best beach.
  • Entrance and parking fee: Free of charge.
  • Services: No bathrooms or life guard.
  • This is a trendy spot to surf although there is no life gaurd so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

8. BEIT YANAI BEACH:

Nature reserve

This is one of the most beautiful and well-kept beaches in the country. It is a very versatile beach, with many water sports. The Alexander stream meets the sea here and it is simply remarkable.

Things to know before you visit:

  • Location: North
    About a 45-minute drive from TLV.
  • Our Rating: #8 best beach.
  • Entrance and parking fee: Free!! Yes, This nature reserve is actually free.
  • Services: There is a lifeguard and bathrooms.
  • Opening season: Mid-March-Mid October.
  • Sea turtle season: August it is a turtle-hatching season and you can witness this here.

 

9. NETANYA BEACH:

I can't help but share this beach with you because I love the vibe here. Sironit beach is so pretty and less crowded, therefore we really enjoy going there.

I wouldn't go all the way to this beach, but if you're in the area and you're looking for a quiet beach this is a good one.

  • Location: North.
  • Our rating: #9 best beach.
  • Entrance: free
  • Parking fee: about 1.5$ per hour in the streets nearby.
  • Services: There is a lifeguard and bathrooms.
  • Location: 40 minute drive from TLV.

 

10. TEL-AVIV BEACHES:

Tel Aviv's beaches are worldwide famous. There are so many great beaches in TLV but my favorites have to be Hilton beach, Alma beach & Gordon beach.

Things you need to know before you visit:

  • Location: Center
  • Our Rating: #10 best beach.
  • Entrance fee: All beachs are free of charge,
  • Services: They have bathrooms that usually cost about 0.5$ and life gaurds.
  • You can rent beach chairs with an umbrella for about 4.5$
  • There are many restuarants and bars on the beach where you could sit and enjoy the view but do take into cosideration that the prices will be much more expensive than in a regular restuarant.
  • Best time to visit: mid-week. Do know that these beaches are always busy no matter when you arrive but during the weekends it could get unbareable.
  • Parking: Do take into considerations that it is almost impossible to find parking in the streets by the ocean, and the parking lots are extremely expensive (3 hours parking can reach 20-25$ or more). There are a lot of public transportation that reach Tel Aviv beaches so it is advices to get there by a bus).
