Sintra is a charming Portuguese town located in the Sintra mountains near Lisbon. Its natural beauty and architecture, are the reasons why it's classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
If you're feeling lost and not sure what to see while you are there and wondering how much you can do in one day, here's a timed scheduled itinerary of what we were able to do in Sintra.
Wake up early and make your way to Rossio Train Station in Lisbon
7:15 am - Catch the train to Sintra
8:00 am - Arrive at Sintra and grab breakfast
8:45 am - Arrive at Pena Palace
9:00 am - Enter Palace and take photos before crowds arrive.
11:00 am - Leave Pena Palace

Walk to Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle)
10- minute walk
11:10 am - Arrive at Castelo dos Mouros.
12:40 am - Make your way to the Royal Tower at the top of the castle wall.
13:10 pm - grab a snack at the Cafe before you make your way down.
13:45 pm - Leave Castelo dos Mouros

Take a bus/taxi to the Old Town of Sintra.
15-minute drive
14:00 pm - Arrive at Old Town and Enter the National Palace of Sintra
14:45 pm - Leave the National Palace of Sintra and explore the gardens and view of Sintra's Old Town.
15:15 pm - Get lunch in the Old Town of Sintra.
15:50 pm - Leave Old Town of Sintra

Walk to Quinta da Regaleira
10-minute walk
16:00 pm - Arrive at Quinta da Regaleira
18:00 pm - Go to the Initiation Well.
19:30 pm - Leave Quinta da Regaleira

Take a Taxi or uber to Sintra Train Station
15-minute drive
Arrive at Sinta's Train Station
• You have a train every 15 minutes.
• There are a few restaurants nearby if you'd like to grab dinner.
